Message from the President
Welcome to the Willamette Valley Triathlon Club web site. Let me first say that I encourage everyone to explore the site and find out what our club is about. Mostly, we are a club interested in promoting the sport of triathlon.
One thing I’ve heard lately is that a club such as this can be intimidating to the newcomer. While that may be a perception, it is far from the truth. As a club we strive to help the newcomer learn about the sport and help them in their journey to better health and enjoyment. Just six years ago I was a couch potato with no athletic background other than recreational soccer. Now I can say I’ve completed triathlons of all distances including three Ironman distance races as well as three marathons. Without the help of this club I could never have achieved those goals.
As president, my goal is to increase our membership and constantly find ways to help everyone from the newcomer to the accomplished athlete reach their goals. Whether it’s a clinic, casual training ride, weekly bike turbo or our mentoring program there are many ways to reach your goals in the sport of triathlon.
During the Spring, Summer and Fall months, the Willamette Valley Triathlon Club organizes swim, bike and run workouts on a weekly basis. See the Swim, Bike and Run sections of our website for details.
I encourage you to join the club, participate in the clinics and maybe step out of your comfort zone a bit so that you can be encouraged and challenged by your new triathlon friends.
