Message from the President

Welcome to the Willamette Valley Triathlon Club web site. I encourage everyone to explore the site and find out what our club is about. The main goal of our club is promoting the sport of triathlon.

Steve Schellenberg

People often have a misperception of triathlons, finding them intimidating However, once you complete your first triathlon, I believe your whole perspective will change. I used to think that people who did triathlons’ were a bunch of hard body crazies, that doing one was way out of my league, and it just sounded too hard. Once I did one, my whole perception of this sport changed 180 degrees. I was hooked.

I hope this club will get you hooked as well. The sport is growing at a fast pace and I would bet that someone you know has completed a triathlon. Local races are selling out quickly, and you’ll see athletes of all ages, shapes and sizes competing. Some are out to win, some are attempting to hit a personal best, and others are just excited to complete their first race. What matters most is having fun!

Our club has all skill levels from beginner to the very experienced, with ages ranging from young to not-so-young. Whether competing in a triathlon has been a lifelong goal or if you just want to socialize in a group of people with like interests, I would encourage you to join our club. You can participate in the informative clinics, train with supportive group of teammates, and meet new people.

Throughout most of the year, the club members gather for various workouts – see the Swim, Bike and Run sections of our website for details.

Our club has something for everyone. Whether it’s a clinic, casual training ride, weekly workout or our mentoring program there are many ways to reach your goals in the sport of triathlon. Check out the opportunities and come join us at the next event.

I encourage you to give it a “Tri”.
